Staying in Lithuania for more than 90 days
EU/EEA Citizens (Exchange Students)
- For entrance, no migration document is required, however, if you stay here more than 3 months, you must apply for Temporary Residence Certificate (TRC) via Migris system, submit biometric data at a chosen Migration department branch, and declare your accommodation. - Mediation letter number is issued by the College.

Non-EU/EEA Citizens (Exchange Students)

EU/EEA Citizens
No Migration document is required (Visa-free regime).
Non-EU/EEA Citizens
- A Schengen Visa is required.
- You should apply to the Lithuanian Visa service in a foreign country or through the visa application centre of the external service provider (VFS Global) if you are abroad, or to a diplomatic mission or consular post of another Schengen State representing the Republic of Lithuania. All the paperwork regarding visa, temporary residence permit are being held by the foreign student. The College assumes no responsibility for the migration processes. However, College is able to assist the student with visa issues, in certain cases and requests.
HEALTHCARE & INSURANCE
Health Care
In cases of accident or emergency, the First Aid Unit (Skubios pagalbos skyrius) at Kaunas University Hospital provides first aid to the foreigners. Emergency telephone number is 112.
Insurance
EU/EEA citizens:
- Students from EU and EEA countries are required to have European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). The EHIC holders can receive the same medical care a Lithuanian citizens, which is provided by general practitioners or specialists and hospital treatment in institutions that have an agreement with the Territorial Health Insurance Fund, and subsidized medicines prescribed for out-patient treatment.
* Private insurance for acute illnesses and accidents is highly recommended.

Non-EU/EEA citizens:
- Students from non-EU countries must apply for a private health insurance valid in Lithuania either in their home country or in Lithuania
Health insurance must conform to such requirements:
- The insurance must guarantee the payment of emergency medical care services, as they are defined in the Law of HealthCare System of the Republic of Lithuania, and expenses that could emerge due to the alien’s return to the foreign country for health-related reasons (transportation, including, the accompanying of health care specialist(s)); and
- The insurance must be valid for the whole duration of the requested temporary residence permit or for at least one year.

COST OF LIVING
The average monthly living cost for an international student in Lithuania ranges from 500 to 800 EUR, which includes accommodation, food, transportation, and other basic expenses. This is significantly lower than in other European countries, making Lithuania a cost-effective choice for students.
The discounts from 10% to 50% for a wide range of leisure activities are offered for International Students Identity Card (ISIC) holders.
Dormitory Information
Currently, St. Ignatius of Loyola College is not able to offer its’ own dormitory for students, however, the Admissions office will help a foreign student to find a proper accommodation place.
STUDENT CARD(S)
LSP
LSIC is a Lithuanian student card – it is the only official document proving the status of a student. Currently, LSIC is produced by the only organization representing students ‘interests at the national level – the Lithuanian National Union of Students (LSS).
Once your higher education institution has confirmed the details, you will be able to order Lithuanian student identity card.
