No Migration document is required (Visa-free regime).

Non-EU/EEA Citizens

  • A Schengen Visa is required.
  • You should apply to the Lithuanian Visa service in a foreign country or through the visa application centre of the external service provider (VFS Global) if you are abroad, or to a diplomatic mission or consular post of another Schengen State representing the Republic of Lithuania.   • Mediation letter number is issued by the College.

All the paperwork regarding visa, temporary residence permit are being held by the foreign student. The College assumes no responsibility for the migration processes.

HEALTHCARE & INSURANCE

Health Care

In cases of accident or emergency, the First Aid Unit (Skubios pagalbos skyrius) at Kaunas University Hospital provides first aid to the foreigners. Emergency telephone number is 112.

Insurance

STUDENTS MUST HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE AND PROVIDE PROOF TO MIGRATION OFFICE.

EU/EEA citizens:

  • Students from EU and EEA countries are required to have European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). The EHIC holders can receive the same medical care a Lithuanian citizens, which is provided by general practitioners or specialists and hospital treatment in institutions that have an agreement with the Territorial Health Insurance Fund, and subsidized medicines prescribed for out-patient treatment.

* Private insurance for acute illnesses and accidents is highly recommended.

Non-EU/EEA citizens:

  • Students from non-EU countries must apply for a private health insurance valid in Lithuania either in their home country or in Lithuania

Health insurance must conform to such requirements:

  • The insurance must guarantee the payment of emergency medical care services, as they are defined in the Law of HealthCare System of the Republic of Lithuania, and expenses that could emerge due to the alien’s return to the foreign country for health-related reasons (transportation, including, the accompanying of health care specialist(s)); and
  • The insurance must be valid for the whole duration of the requested temporary residence permit or for at least one year.

ACCOMMODATION

COST OF LIVING

The average monthly living cost for an international student in Lithuania ranges from 500 to 800 EUR, which includes accommodation, food, transportation, and other basic expenses. This is significantly lower than in other European countries, making Lithuania a cost-effective choice for students.

The discounts from 10% to 50% for a wide range of leisure activities are offered for International Students Identity Card (ISIC) holders.

DORMITORY

Currently, St. Ignatius of Loyola College is not able to offer its’ own dormitory for students, however, St. Ignatius of Loyola College has agreements with “Domus Pacis” (Papilio g. 9, Kaunas, 44275 Kauno m. sav.) and “Villa Kaunensis” (Rotušės a. 21, 44279 Kaunas), which costs around 150-200 EUR per month depending on the room chosen by the student – single room, double room or three person room.

LSP

LSIC is a Lithuanian student card – it is the only official document proving the status of a student. Currently, LSIC is produced by the only organization representing students ‘interests at the national level – the Lithuanian National Union of Students (LSS).

Once your higher education institution has confirmed the details, you will be able to order Lithuanian student identity card.

ISIC

ISIC (abr. International Student Identity Card) – is the only internationally recognized proof of full-time student status. ISIC card allows students to prove their official student status and make the most of thousands of targeted student benefits and discounts in Lithuania and 130 countries.

MENTORING

All incoming students have mentors and student volunteer from St. Ignatius of Loyola University of Applied Sciences which help them to integrate in learning and living process.

STUDENT UNION

St. Ignatius of Loyola University of Applied Sciences Student Association is an independent organization, representing the interests of ILK students. Our Student Association fully represents and defends students’ rights and interests, within and outside Lithuania, related to their academic, social situation, welfare and status, actively contributes to developing a democratic, modern and effective higher education and ILK study system, corresponding to the student’s interests and guaranteeing protection of their rights, bringing the student body together for creating a democratic, legal and civil society in Lithuania, aiming for education, science and business synergy, caring for students social welfare, encouraging student interaction and cooperation.
