ERASMUS: what is it?
The European Union program ERASMUS is the world’s most successful exchange program designed to promote cooperation between higher education institutions, ensure the quality of studies, and support the exchange of students, teachers and other staff. Currently, more than 90 percent of European higher education institutions from 34 countries, including 27 EU countries – Ireland, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Greece, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Croatia, Latvia, Poland, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, France, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Finland, Sweden, Hungary, Germany, as well as non-EU countries such as Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Turkey, Serbia and North Macedonia.
Already in 2021, up to 20 percent of the funds can be allocated to finance mobility to partner countries in Erasmus+ mobility projects.
ERASMUS and St. Ignatius of Loyola College
St. Ignatius of Loyola College (ILK) has been participating in the ERASMUS+ programme since 2013. This opened up the opportunity to participate in the ERASMUS+ programme and receive financial support for the implementation of programme activities. Students and teachers of ILK, who have taken advantage of the opportunities of the ERASMUS + program, have already traveled to France, Turkey, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Latvia, Belgium and other countries.
In 2021, the college was granted a new Erasmus Higher Education Charter, allowing it to participate in the new phase of the Erasmus program 2021-2027.
